Jannik Sinner beats Mackenzie McDonald

Jannik Sinner won the Citi Open in Washington on Sunday to claim the biggest title of his career.

The 19-year-old Italian beat United States’ Mackenzie McDonald 7-5 4-6 7-5 for his third ATP title.

Jannik Sinner also became the youngest winner of the ATP 500 competition since the category was created in 2009.

“I don’t look at me as the youngest because the road is long ufabet,” he said. “There’s still a lot of work to do. I’ve made up my mind for next week.”

Sinner is the ATP’s top teenager – he entered the tournament as the world’s number 24 player and is poised to reach the top of his career 15, with McDonald rising from 107 to 64.

World No. 5 Alexander Zverev is the previous youngest ATP 500 winner. He won the title in Washington in 2017 at the age of 20.

The sinner ended last year with a victory in Sofia. and starting in 2021 with a win in Melbourne. This makes him the youngest player to win consecutive titles since 19-year-old Rafael Nadal in 2005.

His best performance at the Grand Slam was a run to last year’s French Open quarter-finals. And he made it to the fourth round of this year.
